A Permanent Home for Missionary Training
38 Acres With a Purpose
Fort Sherman Ministries has an opportunity to secure more than 38 acres near Kingston, Idaho, as a permanent location for missionary training.
Fort Sherman Academy already uses this property for outdoor training. Securing it would provide a permanent place dedicated to preparing missionaries for service in difficult environments.
Would you pray with us as we seek God’s guidance about this opportunity, the funds needed, and the people who might partner with us?
Why This Property Matters
Missionaries need opportunities to practice what they learn. Outdoor scenarios give participants a place to work through challenges, make decisions, and learn how they respond under pressure, with guidance from experienced trainers.
This property provides the setting for that preparation. Here, participants can:
- Practice ministry and survival skills in realistic scenarios.
- Develop leadership and learn to work together as a team.
- Prepare for cross-cultural service and difficult situations.
- Recognize their strengths and areas where they need to grow.
- Pray together and receive mentoring from experienced leaders.
Over its 24-year history, Fort Sherman Academy has trained 81,000 students, including 1,900 participants in its C+ Extreme Risk training program. That program uses outdoor role-play scenarios to help prepare missionaries for service in some of the most challenging places.
Fort Sherman Ministries is working alongside Fort Sherman Academy to secure a permanent property that supports this training.
Preserving the Natural Setting
We intend to keep the property undeveloped, preserving the outdoor setting that makes it useful for training.
We also hope to welcome churches and ministry groups for outdoor activities, outreach events, and gatherings such as men’s camping trips.
How you can help
Please pray for wisdom as we consider how to secure this property. Ask God to guide our team, provide the resources needed, and connect us with potential partners.
Pray also for the students who have trained here, the people they serve, and the disciples who are helping others follow Christ
